We are a movement and creative programming studio in New York City where Yoga, Pilates, and the Gyrotonic method are taught within a pedagogical framework and brought into conversation with cross disciplinary events and experiences designed to deepen your relationship to your body — in community with others.
The Movement Bar exists to create the kind of sustained community that most traditional studio spaces often overlook.
THE PRACTICE
Three practices. Three cognitive maps of the body.
YOGA*/ Attention + Internal Listening Yoga is taught as the practice of refining awareness. Less about performance, more about perception. Tracking breath, sensation, and mental clarity as a continuous feedback loop.
MAT PILATES*/Structural Intelligence + Controlled Precision
Pilates becomes the study of how organization creates freedom. The focus is not repetition, but refinement: how small adjustments change alignment, stability, and efficiency.
THE GYROTONIC METHOD*/ Expansion + Spiral Intelligence + Flow The Gyrotonic method is taught as three dimensional thinking in motion. An emphasis on continuity, circularity, and spatial awareness.
A living creative program
Alongside classes, The Movement Bar hosts a rotating program of conversations, workshops, listening sessions, artist dialogues, and community gatherings designed to deepen the relationship between movement, creativity, and shared experience.

Tyler Rosemond, FOUNDER
Tyler Rosemond is a Haitian American woman born and raised in Queens, New York. She came to movement through a recreation center in Rego Park that rented space to a regional rhythmic gymnastics club. What started there became a path to the U.S. National Team, where she competed internationally representing the United States. That foundation opened the door to contemporary dance, ballet, circus arts, yoga, Pilates, and the Gyrotonic method.
For her, movement was never just training. It was a lens through which she experienced the world.
She attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, went on to NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, and spent seven years at Microsoft as a program and product manager. She later served as Head of Artistic Programming at CreateWell, the creative wellness arm of the FlowWell yoga collective. There, she developed interdisciplinary programming across yoga, art, and community practice. In that work she learned that when creative practice and physical practice are in conversation and when the social structure of a space is designed with intention, something different becomes possible: not just a good class, but a real community.
Through years of training across disciplines, one thing remained constant. Many of the rooms she trained in did not reflect the breadth of people, backgrounds, and lived experiences that make up New York City. That absence shaped not only who was present, but how spaces felt, who seemed immediately comfortable, and what kinds of connection were possible inside them. Over time, she became equally interested in improving the social architecture of movement spaces.
The Movement Bar is her response to that gap. A space that treats movement not simply as fitness, but as cultural practice. Rigorous without being exclusive, and progressive without being inaccessible. These practices changed her life, and she built The Movement Bar to make them accessible to more people. It is a love letter to the city she grew up in and to the communities that deserve to feel at home inside movement spaces.
